Before I started my apprenticeship, I was nervous as I thought I may feel less important than the rest of the team and was worried I may not fit in. As soon as I started my role, I knew this was not the case. The team were very friendly and welcoming, and I felt valued straight away. I started the role with no admin experience whatsoever and the team were great at training me on what was expected of me to do and were very patient. I completed the majority of my apprenticeship work at home, however this was by choice and I was allocated time at work where possible to complete this. My manager was flexible with visits from my assessor and giving me separate rooms to complete 1:1 meetings and exams.

I have always had lots of support, there are a wide range of people I can choose to go to with an issue and they all have their doors open whenever needed. This is comforting as I know I can go to someone who I am comfortable speaking to, it does not necessarily have to be my line manager if I choose not to confide in them.

I have been an HR Administrator Apprentice for over 12 months and nearing the end of my apprenticeship. I have found LivingCare to be very nurturing and passionate about developing individuals in a range of specialisms. I have really enjoyed working at LivingCare so far and I am looking forward to continuing my journey with them.

When visiting one of our clinics or offices, you will find a strong family atmosphere within each team. I feel well supported in my role as everyone is willing to help me if I have any questions about a services or procedure. This has helped me gain confidence and the ability to do things that I would have previously been terrified to do such as chairing staff council meetings. My manager has been highly supportive of my personal development as well as my career development and helped me to become more independent in my role.

My role has been very flexible which has allowed me to carry out projects that not every HR administrator would have the opportunity to do such as creating competitions and employee reward opportunities. I have gained a better understanding of the wider healthcare system and independent healthcare services. I would 100% recommend LivingCare for anyone who is interested in an apprenticeship to gain a rich experience in healthcare.
